Castle Point Borough Council improves accessibility to swimming with New £40,000 Pool Pod investment.
Castle Point Borough Council is excited to announce the installation of a state-of-the-art pool pod, designed to enhance accessibility and comfort for swimmers of all abilities.
These innovative devices offer a safe, dignified and independent way for individuals with limited mobility to enter and exit the pool. The pool pods provide a secure platform that can be lowered into the water, allowing users to transfer from their wheelchair or walking aid directly into the pool.
“We’re thrilled to introduce the innovative pool pod to Runnymede Leisure Centre. This £40,000 investment demonstrates our commitment to making our facilities accessible to everyone, regardless of ability. These pods will provide a more comfortable and independent swimming experience for individuals with limited mobility, empowering them to enjoy the benefits of aquatic exercise” said Cllr Tom Gibson, Cabinet Member for Special Projects and Assets.
The installation of pool pods at Runnymede Leisure Centre is part of an ongoing commitment to improving accessibility and inclusivity at leisure facilities across the borough. An additional Pool Pod will also be installed at Waterside Farm Leisure Centre soon.
Runnymede Leisure Centre encourages everyone to come and experience the benefits of these new devices. For more information, please contact Runnymede Leisure Centre at 01268 756514 or email leisure@castlepoint.gov.uk
