New Pool Pods Coming to Waterside Farm & Runnymede Leisure Centres

Castle Point Borough Council Invests £80k in Improved Pool Access for Everyone: New Pool Pods Coming to Waterside Farm and Runnymede Leisure Centres

We’re excited to announce a major investment in improved pool access for everyone in our borough! Thanks to an £80,000 investment from the Council, Waterside Farm Leisure Centre and Runnymede Leisure Centre will be welcoming brand new Pool Pod 3’s this April!

These innovative pool lifts offer a more dignified and independent way for people of all abilities to access our swimming pools. Unlike traditional lifts, Pool Pods operate quietly and discreetly, without requiring assistance from centre staff. This means greater freedom and enjoyment for everyone who wants to enjoy the benefits of swimming.

Councillor Dave Blackwell, Leader of Castle Point Borough Council says “We’re committed to ensuring everyone in our community has equal access to leisure facilities, and this investment in new Pool Pods is a major step in the right direction. By removing barriers and providing comfortable, independent access, we hope to encourage more people to enjoy the many health and wellbeing benefits of swimming.”

Key benefits of the new Pool Pods:
• Dignified and independent access: Users can operate the Pool Pods themselves, without needing help from staff.
• Improved accessibility: Suitable for people with a wide range of mobility needs.
• Quiet and discreet operation: No noisy machinery to disrupt your swim.
• Easy to use: Simple controls for a stress-free experience.

Mark your calendars! We’ll be unveiling the new Pool Pods at Waterside Farm and Runnymede Leisure Centres in April. Stay tuned for more updates and information on how you can experience this exciting new addition to our pool facilities.

Together, we can make our swimming pools even more inclusive and welcoming for everyone in our community!
